Fire alarm businesses live on recurring revenue: the Ontario Fire Code requires annual inspection and testing of fire alarm systems, so every commercial building is a repeat customer. The gate is CFAA technician qualification on top of the electrical layer.

The licensing layer, explained

Two layers: installation wiring is electrical work (licensed electricians under an ECRA/ESA contractor), and verification/inspection runs on CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association) technician registration working to ULC standards (ULC S536 inspection/testing, S537 verification). The Ontario Fire Code mandates annual inspections — which is what makes the service side a contract business.
