No provincial trade licence — the 403A carpentry certificate is voluntary. You need a municipal business licence, WSIB, and insurance. Most finish work is interior and non-structural, so it rarely triggers permits; the craft and the portfolio are the credential.
Lower-risk than structural trades, but you work in finished, occupied homes — client-property damage is the main exposure. $1M–$2M CGL is typical.
