Sustainability Consultant at a glance
Qualify. Practise. Own it. Pick the door that matches where you are.
Sustainability consulting is not a licensed profession; the recognized credential is the LEED AP (and related credentials like WELL AP, Passive House, and Certified Energy Manager). Practitioners come from architecture, engineering, and building-science backgrounds. Where the work includes engineering (energy modelling stamped for code), a P.Eng applies. Credentials and a track record — not a reserved title — gate the work.
A green-building consulting practice carries professional liability (E&O) for the targets, models, and certifications it advises on — a missed credit or energy-model error can cost a project its certification or rebates.
