Mechanical building-services engineering is practised under a P.Eng licence, applying ASHRAE standards, the Building and Fire Codes, and energy/ventilation requirements. It is one half of "MEP" (mechanical-electrical-plumbing) consulting. A firm offering services to the public needs a PEO Certificate of Authorization and professional liability insurance.
