The credential, explained

Building envelope consulting is not a licensed practice, but the recognized credential is the Building Science Specialist (BSS) designation, awarded through the regional Building Envelope Councils (under the national NBEC). Much of the work is performed by P.Eng- or architect-qualified specialists, and IIBEC and BECxP (enclosure commissioning) credentials are common. Expertise and credentials — not a reserved title — gate the work.
